This is a private reference site, not a government office. We cannot confirm custody or release, post bond, release anyone, or obtain an official booking record. Use the appropriate public office below for those matters.

Emergency: 911

The Sheriff's Office identifies this as its non-emergency contact and describes Records Management as the unit that maintains office records, including accident and offense reports, civil and criminal warrants, legal papers, and local records checks. No separate public Records Management number, SCSO email address, or SCSO office hours were published in the reviewed sources.

Southampton County FOIA Routing

Tina Bradshaw, Southampton County FOIA routing contact
P.O. Box 400
Courtland, VA 23837
Phone: (757) 653-3015

The county policy permits requests by mail, fax, email, in person, or phone and calls for a response within five working days, with a written seven-working-day extension when timely response is impracticable. It does not publish office hours for the FOIA routing contact. Request an advance cost estimate when useful; the policy lists no charge for electronic delivery, the first ten standard paper pages free, $0.25 for each additional standard page, and a possible deposit for an estimate above $200.

Choose the route that matches the record and custody stage:

  • For a local adult booking record or an initial-intake photograph, review the home records guide and direct a focused request to the lawful custodian. Virginia Code ยง 2.2-3706(A) governs the adult-photo and arrest-information rule, including its felony-investigation exception.
  • For a warrant question, use the check-and-resolve guidance on Wanted Fugitives. SCSO has not verified a public county warrant portal or most-wanted list.
  • For later adult case status, use Virginia OCIS or the appropriate Southampton court clerk. A report of an arrest does not establish a court result.
  • For someone transferred to state custody or under state supervision, use the Virginia Department of Corrections Inmate and Supervisee Locator.
  • For federal or immigration custody, use the Federal Bureau of Prisons Inmate Locator or the ICE Online Detainee Locator, as applicable.
  • For local context, Arrest News explains why a media story or third-party page must be verified with the responsible agency or court.
